The Boardwalk leading to Jack's Beach

Hastings

Overlooking Western Port Bay with its deep water harbour, French Island and Sandstone Island, Hastings was established during the early 1850's to support the local fishing and farming industries.

Today it is a thriving township, desirable place to live and popular area for visiting tourists to enjoy many water activities, walking, cycling and foreshore wildlife. Already boasting a jetty with its historic fish shed which is still offering freshly caught fish to locals and tourists alike, a superb Marina complex, foreshore playground, public BBQs, cycle track and space galore, there are many developments in the pipeline to complement existing facilities. These include The Western Port Aquatic Centre, providing the community with a 25 metre, eight lane multi-purpose pool with disabled ramp, spa and steam room, gynasium and café. This is coupled with the creation of a world class tourist attraction displaying the HMAS Otama submarine.

Western Port Bay

In contrast to Port Phillip Bay, the coastline of Western Port Bay harbours quiet coves and inlets, empty beaches for walking and picturesque coastal villages.

Some of the attractions include:

  • The finest world-class golf courses
  • The gracious "Georgianna McHaffie" which cruises Western Port Bay while you wine and dine
  • Spectacular rural drives
  • Boutique wineries where you can enjoy robust wines
  • A great variety of restaurants from family to gourmet
  • Nature trails
  • Wildlife habitats and reserves
  • Secluded beaches
  • Trail rides
  • Horse riding
  • Fishing charters
  • Historic homesteads and buildings
  • Day trips to Philip and French Island by ferry from Stony Point
    ... and much more

Port Phillip Bay

Sweeping sandy beaches, historic architecture, golf courses, sailing, swimming and lazing around in the sun, Port Phillip Bay has played host to thousands of holiday makers for over 100 years.

Some of the attractions include:

  • Arthur's Seat Chairlift
  • Nature reserves
  • Historic gardens and houses
  • Art galleries
  • Cinemas
  • Antique shops
  • Mazes
  • Coastal and hinterland walks
  • Beach carnivals
  • Street festivals
  • Public BBQ's
  • Sorrento to Queenscliff ferry to the Bellarine Peninsula

You can enjoy some of the best street and craft markets on the Peninsula including Mornington and Hastings Street Markets, and Craft Markets at Redhill, Balnarring and Mornington Race Course.

So much to do, so little time. Better come back again
- and again.
